At a certain point in the Girls’ adolescence, both Blossom and Bubbles started focusing less on fighting crime and monsters and more on their interests and careers. Blossom, wanting to follow in the footsteps of their father, focused on her education to become a super scientist. Bubbles would look toward more artistic aspirations, as well as using her abilities to protect wildlife and nature. Buttercup would continue fighting crime by herself, not at all interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, due to her disdain for the justice system and police department in Townsville.
Her disrespect for conventional law enforcement and her resentment toward her sisters for losing interest in what she thought was their duty would eventually put a strain on her relationship with both her sisters and the city she fights to protect, labeling her a dangerous vigilante and a nuisance. Regardless of these problems, she still finds solace in Professor Utonium’s company, looking towards him for guidance and what she considers her only friend in the world. The Professor, conflicted with the actions and attitude of his daughter, tries his best to console her and imbue her with the same wisdom he’d shared with her when she was still a child.
